Total Laboratory Automation EXLAB

TASK

EXLAB is a fully automated, modular system designed to support clinical analysis of patient samples. Offering exceptional processing speed and flexible configuration, it enhances efficiency and sets a new standard in laboratory operations. The system prepares, stores, distributes, and monitors samples to ensure optimal precision and speed in the following analysis.

  • A distinct and cohesive zybio design language that ensures a streamlined, recognizable presence across all layout configurations

  • Excellent usability for optimal laboratory test operation experience

Modular System with All-Round
360° Design

The design language of the series is the result of a meticulous strategy aimed at establishing a unified aesthetic across all modules, despite their varying forms and sizes. Since the machine may be installed in the center of a room, it must meet high aesthetic standards from every angle. Following the same design principles applied to the front, the rear side has been equally and intentionally refined.

Harmonized Design for a Cohesive
Visual Identity

Consistent height alignment of key elements—such as the waistline, monitors, and handles— ensures a clean, streamlined appearance that shows the system’s precision and operational efficiency. The same meticulous attention applied to visual design is mirrored in the engineering process, reflecting a balanced commitment to both aesthetic excellence and technological accuracy.

Creating Clarity in Complexity: Harmonizing Form, Function and Usability

The EXLAB GUI seamlessly integrates multiple modules in a clear and organized manner, using color coding and iconography that align with the
instrument’s overall aesthetic and functional language. The color scheme is thoughtfully coordinated to complement the surrounding elements of
the machine and hood. Various operational logic flows were evaluated during the UX process to ensure an intuitive user experience.

Merging User Comfort with Distinctive Design Language

Each module features a generously sized display, carefully positioned at an optimal height and viewing angle to support intuitive, independent use. While enhancing ergonomics, the front-facing slope-cut element also makes a bold visual statement, reinforcing the overall design language and strengthening brand recognition. Although the module is built on a square footprint, the use of angled surfaces and recessed corners creates a visually compact and refined appearance.
